Nine Lines for Boss  (A Critter and a Friend)           A. J. Heskett

Laughing-sad eyes, I remember your gift!
With you it was always Christmas morning.
Eternal child, (unholy terror), even now a smile
Lights my face when I fondle memory and sift
Through your life. Slipping the moment, obeying
Only curiousity, you gave freely, (All the while
A tyrant and plunderer.) There was no rift
You did not breach between us friend; mourning.
Quadripod knight, I miss your benign guile.
